There are a great many important decisions to be made and plans to be laid. In order to guarantee that every good idea is considered, we ask you to review the following committees and join whichever one your skills will best serve. The committees listed in blue are of immediate concern and importance. Those committees listed in green, while important, are likely to not meet until later this Spring or after our sweeping victories in November! Fundraising and Sustaining Membership Recruitment
Responsible for:
- Coordinating all Tarrant County Party fundraising efforts.
- Identifying contacts and sources of significant donations.
- Developing a marketing strategy.
- Developing and implementing a program for large-scale expansion of the Sustaining Membership policy.
Data Base and IT
Responsible for:
- Determining the Tarrant County Democratic Party’s hardware and software computing needs.
- Surveying the Party’s current computer hardware and software to determine if it is sufficient to meet the Party’s computing needs.
- Determining if the current database system meets the Party’s need to store and use demographic data regarding members of the Party.
- Recommending upgrades, if needed.
- Interfacing with the State Party to ensure our local Party’s access to all pertinent voter information.
- Overseeing updates, upgrades and improvements to the local Party’s website.
- Providing knowledgeable people to test updates to the website to make sure links work.
- Overseeing the upgrade and improvement of the Headquarters phone system.
- Preparing training materials and tip sheets for volunteers to correctly use the computer and phone systems, including entering data accurately and consistently.
Democratic Clubs
Responsible for:
- Coordinating and maintaining communication with all local Democratic Clubs and Grass Roots Organizations.
- Coordinating the meetings and activities of these organizations’ through a central calendar.
- Serving as a means of enhancing the mutual support between the County Organization and the local clubs and among the clubs.
- Providing mentors for Young Democrats organizations by working with the Young Democrats Committee and the local clubs.
Precinct Development
Responsible for:
- Recruiting Precinct Chairs for those precincts where vacancies exist.
- Taking the lead in identifying and locating consistent Democratic voters, activists, block captains and other leaders who can assist the Precinct Chair in organizing Precinct walks, putting up signs and encouraging voter registration and turnout.
- Organize local projects or rallies that encourage and retains voters who turn out in the Primaries and the General Elections.
- Training precinct chairs to conduct precinct conventions.
- Assisting precinct chairs with precinct conventions.
Volunteer Coordination Committee
Responsible for:
- Recruiting and training volunteers for the Party, to work in the local office and in various local campaigns.
- Coordinating with the Campaign Coordination Committee to provide local campaigns with volunteers.
Communications and Public Relations/Marketing
Responsible for:
- Generating party-wide communications from the local office, including “The Donkey Speaks” newsletter.
- Overseeing the writing and distributing of news releases and letters to the editor for local print and broadcast media.
- Providing content for the local Party’s website.
- Operating a “Rapid Response” team, including the County Chair and the Executive Director, when print or broadcast news and/or commentaries warrant a position statement by the party.
- Maintaining, by working closely with the Data Base and IT Committee, an updated and accurate database with email addresses and phone numbers of Tarrant County Democrats.

Building Improvement
Responsible for:
- Coordinating with the Local Office Administration and Personnel Committee about the office space needs of the Party.
- Providing recommendations for modernizing, improving, and remodeling the local Party Office.
- Maintaining the office.
Campaign Coordination
Responsible for:
- Working with local, state and national candidates’ campaigns to identify, create and implement campaign strategy for the candidates.
- Working closely with the Volunteer Coordination Committee to recruit, train and dispatch volunteers for block walking, mailers, telephone banks and any other campaign-related activity in which volunteers are needed.
Candidate Recruitment
Responsible for:
- Recruiting viable, knowledgeable candidates for every Tarrant County elected office.
Convention Planning
Responsible for:
- Assisting in the planning of the Senate District Conventions.
- Developing an operating protocol for each convention.
- Working with the County Chair, the County Executive Committee and the Temporary Convention Chairs, to recruit and train a staff of volunteers for each.
Democratic Leadership Training Committee
Responsible for:
- Organizing and implementing formal training programs for local party leaders.
- Identifying persons interested in serving as leaders in the following areas:
- Local Precincts
- Democratic Party Policies and Goals
- Local Elections
- Precinct, County and Senate District Conventions
- Local Office Administration
- Data Entry and Communications
- Candidates for Office
- Voting Issues and Security
- Conducting, on at least an annual basis, a Leadership Training Seminar, which will focus on educating all persons interested in the above-referenced leadership areas.
Elections and Voting Issues/Security
Responsible for:
- Coordinating with the Tarrant County Elections office for all local elections, including Primary Elections.
- Assist in identifying and addressing voting issues that pertain to individual elections, such as procuring printed ballots and finding polling locations.
- Assist in recruiting and training election judges and clerks for Primary Elections.
- Recruiting and training poll watchers, when needed.
Get Out The Vote
Responsible for:
- Organizing local Voter Registration efforts.
- Implementing procedures for targeting all local voters to encourage turnout at elections.
- Working closely with the Precinct Development Committee to target Democratic voters.
- Working closely with the Volunteer Coordination Committee to organize phone banks, mail campaigns and block walks.
Legislative Action
Responsible for:
- Engaging local elected officials to develop and pass legislation that promotes Party goals and values.
Local Office Administration and Personnel
Responsible for:
- Supervising the administration of the local Party Office.
- Reviewing budgetary needs.
- Reviewing personnel needs.
- Offering advice to the County Chair as to personnel needs and salaries.
- Overseeing the physical space requirements for the local Party Office.
Young Democrats
Responsible for:
- Identifying and/or creating Young Democrats organizations in all of the local high schools, colleges and universities.
- Providing assistance to the Young Democrat organizations and coordinating the activities of these organizations with the Party Office.
- Recruiting the local clubs and grass roots organizations to serve as mentors for the Young Democrats, by working with the Democratic Clubs Committee.
